5. Use what you have. Make the current season work to your advantage by using what’s available. Leaves in the fall make for amazing props in photos and don’t cost a thing.
Where did January & February go to?
This year is just flying by and what a great start it has been!
In our last blog post you would see that this year we were found by LA director Phillip Briggs who asked us to come and work with him while he was filming in Kerry. We were blown away to have even been asked. It was such an incredible honour and we can’t wait to share the imagery with you once the film has hit Cannes (later this year!) and the Oscars! I know its incredible and so exciting!
On the 25th Feb we went to the Ballyroe Heights Hotel. We joined with our friends in the wedding industry for a fantastic night out at the Brides of Kerry awards. We wanted to let our hair down and hit the dance floor as our “quiet season” still hasn’t started yet, and to be honest I don’t think it will happen at this stage until next year.
Dave & I enjoyed dinner and entertainment before sitting back to watch the awards. Many of our friends won awards for their contribution to the wedding industry. My voice was beginning to give way from all the cheering!
We seemed to have sat at a lucky table with Jacks restaurant winning, Annette O Brien (Make up artist), Tricia O Sullivan (Hair and Make up), Noreen (Travel Counsellors) and the Kerry Cake Company all taking home awards.
Then it came to “Wedding Photographer of the year” and guess what? WE WON!
I really couldn’t believe it! We stopped entering awards a few years ago and we’re surprised to have even been nominated for this.
Then for our clients to vote in their masses and decide that we deserved it really blew me away.
Thank you again, we are truly grateful. We had such a great night dancing to the fantastic Pat Fitz band and celebrating with our fellow suppliers.
The Kerry Wedding Industry has such a range of fantastic (and mad) suppliers, you would be crazy not to book them and support local!
And then there were four :)….. by TaraD
So most of you know by now we have been blessed with another beautiful boy!
Dáithí arrived at the end of May on a Tuesday which was really good of him not to interrupt a wedding day! 🙂
All went really well and now our home and our hearts are fuller and life is just that bit crazier! Who would have thought that could be possible?
I have to laugh when I get asked CONSTANTLY is he good? What defines a good baby? One that is happy and healthy and eats and poops regularly?
Does he sleep? Yes of course he does, but does he also wake? Well yes I would be worried if he didn’t wake up for a feed, a cuddle and some play time!
I don’t mind being woke up at 3 am and seeing the amazing satisfaction and pleasure that something as simple as a clean bum and a feed brings to him, makes it all worthwhile. He isn’t asking for much 🙂 His smile could make even the grumpiest person at 3am forget why they were ever grumpy!
So for all the new mums that may stumble across this post, keep doing what you are doing, stock up on coffee (as that helps when you are having a particularly tired day!) and remember that you are AMAZING!
We are delighted to have such a great feature written about us. Grab a coffee, click on the link below and have a read!
Two pregnant photographers! by TaraD
So recently I got the chance to take some maternity pics of friend and fellow photographer Caroline Flynn (Caroline Flynn Photography).
Caroline is an extremely talented photographer who creates beautiful fine art imagery and also amazing newborn photography.
Stepping into her studio would make anyone broody seeing all the gorgeous images! 🙂
Like myself, Caroline is always busy BEHIND the lens! For me capturing her at this precious time in her life was special so I was delighted when she agreed! 🙂
We decided to meet at her studio and both had very different ideas of what we could/ should shoot so we decided to throw the plan the window and prioritise fun instead and just let whatever happened happen!
We laughed a lot, almost cried from the laughter and of course ate chocolate (well I did!)…
Caroline also managed to get me in front of the camera and photograph my expanding belly!
Thank you Caroline this will always be a fun day to look back on and that’s what photography is all about! Capturing those special moments and laughter forever…
I can’t wait to meet your new arrival very soon!!! xxxx
A very special thanks to Georgina Mackessy for my fab makeup, check out her site here https://georginamackessymakeup.com and Tricia O Sullivan http://kerryhairdresser.com for our gorgeous hair. You girls are AMAZING! 🙂 xxxx

Jewel Day! by TaraD
We all admire certain jewels or want a specific style for a wedding or engagement ring,
check out the meaning of some of these beautiful jewels.
Garnet stone is beautifully eye catching and has many meanings. This stone is extremely appropriate
for engagement rings as it symbolises fire, passion, and love.
The Garnet stone is also associated with life and business, popularity with friends, high energy, and
Diamonds are most commonly known as being almost indestructible, symbolising eternity this is a
great choice for an engagement or wedding ring. Diamonds are also known for their eye catching
sparkle and brilliance thus symbolising love.
It is believed that the gemstone Topaz can have a calming effect on emotions while also bringing
energy to the wearer when they need it if troublesome events occur.
Blue Sapphire is beautifully breath taking, it was believed by the Ancient Persians that the Earth was
mounted on a blue sapphire and that its colour was reflected in the sky. Sapphire captures so much
symbolising loyalty, faithfulness and trust, making it the perfect symbol for an engagement or a
wedding ring of a couples love.
Emerald green has beautiful symbolisations attached to it, it has the concept of eternity as it is the
colour that constantly renews itself through generations. It is thought that when you give an emerald
you are showing humility, which is thought to be a good thing when starting a new life with somebody.
So make that ring extra special by thinking about the symbolism attached to it!
MAKE YOUR WEDDING POP! by TaraD
Since today is Popcorn Lovers Day, popcorn is such a popular loved snack, it is associated with fun times like birthday parties or trips to the cinema. Why not make it a fun part of your big day, whether you and your partner are movie fans or just want to add something quirky to your day, here are some ideas to include this delicious food at your wedding!!
Start your wedding with something different.
Instead of the usual biscuits and sandwiches for your wedding guests at the drinks reception, make it fun and special and have popcorn at the ready for your guests to enjoy! Popcorn and champagne tastes great together!!
Have it in cute little bags or paper cones that the guests can have.
A really lovely simple idea for this is to get some empty jam jars and fill them with popcorn kernels, seal the jar and wrap a tag around the top saying ‘Thanks for making our day pop!’
Who doesn’t love popcorn and chocolate?! Why not go for something different for you wedding and make it memorable with a unique cake! Show off your adventurous side with a salted caramel sponge and popcorn on top… delicious!!
Make it fun
Hire a popcorn making machine and add some carnival fun to your wedding, the smell alone will have everyone in good spirits!! Kids at the wedding will love it too.
Have a popcorn station set up for the late night snacks of all different types of popcorn, different flavors and colours,
everyone loves a midnight snack of popcorn!!
These are just some ideas of how to incorporate popcorn into your wedding day, get thinking its amazing what you could
come up with!

Proposal Day by TaraD
If there is a place that you and your partner love, such as a beach or your usual Sunday walk….
Pack a picnic and write will ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME’ in the sand or if it’s raining bring an umbrella and have ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME’ written inside it, so it will be seen when you pop it open!!
Have some fun!!! Surprise your partner some day after work by making dinner, have a piñata filled with your partner’s favourite sweets and have the engagement ring in the piñata too!!!
If you’re musical , why not learn a song that your partner loves or that is sentimental to the two of ye and throw into the song at some stage ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME’ or else put together a slide show with pictures of the two of you and the song in the background, at the end have pictures coming up with the big question on them!!
Get the family involved, have everyone hiding waiting to celebrate the minute your partner says ‘YES’ to your proposal!!
If you have a dog and can train them to carry the ring box over to your partner or have them wearing a bandana saying will you marry me?!
Hire a professional photographer
Capture the moment you ask the question and look of excitement and shock to the passionate kiss, these are beautiful moments to capture. Keeping hidden and out of sight a good photographer will capture amazing pictures of your magical moment!
You don’t have to propose with a ring, just the words ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME?’ is enough to sweep your partner off their feet. You can propose with anything from a favorite flower, a particularly coloured stone or shell anything that symbolizes you as a couple, yer hobbies or interests!!
Just remember to have fun and get creative!!!
